Music Ministry

Purpose: "O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms. For the Lord [is] a great God, and a great King above all gods." Psalm 95: 1-3

The purpose and responsibility of this ministry is to minister praises unto our God through songs and music. The choir shall and will cooperate with the pastor to arrange and be responsible for and maintaining a musical program of excellence for the church on it’s appointed or designated times to render service. We are always ready along with our musical directors to provide spirit-filled and inspirational music during services as deemed appropriate. We have a song to sing on the Lord's Day.

Culinary Ministry

Purpose: “They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.” Acts 2:46-47

The purpose and responsibility of this ministry is to provide service and assistance to the church family during fellowship dinners. Service includes planning of menus, preparation and set up of food and eating areas, and the coordination of the clean up staff after completion of meals or refreshments. Other duties include the purchase of kitchen supplies and utensils for use during gatherings.

Men's Ministry (Men of Purpose)

Purpose: " As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." Proverbs 27:17

Twofold: 1) to foster spiritual growth for every man to begin their journey of finding their purpose in life and 2) to be an evangelistic ministry that ministers to the needs of the community. By integrating the purpose of each man within the purpose of the Men’s ministry as a whole, we’ll understand our purpose as one body in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit will be our source of spiritual empowerment and direction as the Men’s Ministry establishes its presence in the community as an evangelistic ministry. Prayer, faith, commitment and the spirit of love within our ministry will define the Men’s Ministry as a ministry truly seeking its purpose. As such, each man will need to find his own purpose as he strives to walk by faith. It is from this spiritual faith walk that the Men’s Ministry will find its divine purpose as a ministry of the Second Baptist Church.

Senior Day Ministry

Purpose: “For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will enjoy the works of their hands. They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD, they and their descendants with them.” Isaiah 65:22
The purpose and responsibility of the senior ministry is to focus on the needs and concerns of the seniors of the church and community, offering aid and assistance where requested or needed. Duties include planning recreational activities of interest to seniors, providing transportation to and from places when needed, and addressing other needs or concerns as they arise.

Women's Ministry (The Lady's Wing)

Ministry Leader: Lady Dawn Hutton

SCRIPTURE: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” You are His masterpiece and you are perfect in His sight!” Ephesians 2:10
The mission of the Lady’s Wing Women Ministry is to promote a Spirit of Excellence and Dignity. This ministry strives to provide a safe haven of fellowships where women are exhorted and empowered to know God more intimately. We will fellowship and experience the true power of salvation through Jesus Christ while sharing and showing the love and character of God in our family, community, and church.

Purpose:
-To birth, nurture, and to encourage the sincere desire to seek the face and the will of God for our lives continually.

-To cohesively unite our Christian women together on one accord to experience the power and move of God in our daily lives.
-To learn more about our creativity and serving and sharing God and each other in a more intimate and perfect way.

Youth Ministry

Purpose: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
Our purpose is to equip youth disciples for ministry so that they may fulfill Christ's great commission to go into the world and do likewise. To achieve that purpose, we are committed to the following principles. Mission: We have a vision for a vibrant youth fellowship that is serious about praising and worshiping the Lord. We don't pay lip service; we love Jesus. We are not along for the ride; we want to drive. We are not content to let the world around us wallow in darkness; we are willing to go into the darkness to shine the light of Jesus Christ. We are willing to step out of our comfort zones and sacrifice ourselves for His sake. We will take up our cross daily and follow where Christ leads. We are a group of disciples who will evangelize to others and make disciples for Jesus Christ.
